Mark Vance has been Interim Pastor at St. Stephen’s since July 1, 2023. A native of Ohio, he served for a total 36 years as pastor of three congregations in Indiana and Kentucky. He moved to California in 2016, and since then has served a total of four interims. Pastor Vance also does pulpit supply and, with his wife Beth, does a variety of volunteer work. The couple lives in Citrus Heights and has one child, Sarah, who lives in Oakland.

Mariia, who holds a Master’s degree in Conducting from St. Petersburg State University, Russia, acts as the pianist and organist for St. Stephen’s. She additionally holds the positions of Administrator and Bookkeeper. In addition to the services she provides to our church, Mariia is a Music Professor of the Vocal and Choral Program at Folsom Lake College. Her numerous accomplishments include working internationally with renowned artists, being awarded the title of “Laureate”, and becoming the winner of the “Grand Prix” and “First Prize” at numerous European and Russian competitions.
Mariia also serves on Sacramento Valley Choral Coalition’s Board of Directors, is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Chorus America, League of American Orchestras (LAO), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and a member of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM).
Ms. Pechenova received Certificate of Recognition from El Dorado County, Certificate of Special Recognition from Tom McClintock member of the Congress of the United States and was awarded with the Flag of the United States of America flown over the United States Capitol in recognition of her U.S. Citizenship.
